Sometimes life may feel like you have to have everything together all at once. That thought alone can be very stressful. With all of the things teenagers and students have to deal with, it all adds up and can be extremely stressful at times.
A common challenge faced is social media. Social media alters the way the lives of others look, and it can feel draining, always trying to keep up with others.
The extra pressure from school, sports, extracurriculars, and many more programs can cause even more stress and strain on mental health.
But the truth is… you don’t have to have every little detail figured out right now. This may seem like a big idea, and something that is not easily attainable, or nearly impossible, but there are a few steps you can take to become a pro at taking a step back and finding new ways to take care of yourself.
1. Focus on what you can control.**
You cannot control every grade, every person’s opinion, or every situation. You can control the effort you put in, how you respond, and the next step you take. Try writing down what is worrying you and identifying one thing you can do about it today.
**2. Break big tasks into smaller ones.**
A large assignment or a busy schedule can feel impossible when you look at everything together. Break your responsibilities into smaller steps and focus on one at a time. Progress does not have to happen all at once to count.
**3. Give yourself permission to rest.**
Rest is not something you have to earn by exhausting yourself first. Getting enough sleep, eating regularly, taking breaks, and making time for activities you enjoy can help support your mental well-being.
**4. Stop comparing your journey to someone else’s.**
People often share their accomplishments without showing their struggles. You may see someone else’s success without knowing what it took to get there. Your timeline does not have to match anyone else’s.
**5. Reach out when you need support.**
You do not have to manage everything alone. Talk to a trusted friend, family member, school counselor, or another trusted adult when stress begins to feel unmanageable. Asking for help is a responsible step toward taking care of yourself.
Now… For the September Challenge……

The “Not Yet” Check-In: Complete this sentence:
“I don’t have ____________ figured out yet, and that is okay because ____________.”
Weekly Milestones: At the end of each 7-day period, journal a brief 2-minute weekly reflection:
